Birthday Gifts

21 Feb

Tonight I’ve decided to showcase some of the first try, last minute ideas of an up and coming pastry chef here in Hong Kong.

Angie’s best friend’s birthday just so happens to fall in the middle of the Holiday season.  This year she requested that Angie make her a gingerbread cake.  Having never made a gingerbread house before, and hearing all of my horror stories of failed attempts wasn’t going to dampen Angie’s spirits.  I’m glad it didn’t because the house actually turned out quite nice!

With this next cake, Angie made her grandmother’s favorite Sunday game even sweeter!  Every Sunday Angie’s parents and grandparents get together for a day of conversation, snacks, and most importantly, MAHJONG!  With time not on her side she was able to complete yet another beautiful cake.  I believe plans are in the works for getting the tiles smaller for the next time around.

I’m may not always have the biggest sweet tooth, but Angie’s cakes always make me want to come back for another bite and Keep on Eatin’.
